STEPware for headsets with STEPvoice was specifically designed and tuned for on-head voice pickup applications – especially applications where the microphones are located at the user’s ear. By being able to “home in” on a near-field signal, STEPvoice excludes the pickup of undesired far-field noises. Signals from far-field are ignored while the desired signal remains clean and clear. STEPvoice reduces noise and preserves the fidelity of the voice. Utilizing proprietary real-time signal processing methods to create a unique combination of first-order response for near-field sources and an incredibly steep fall-off for far-field noises, STEPvoice delivers the desired signal with virtually no distortion or noise. It uses that information to discriminate between speech and noise. This software is currently available on CSR BlueCore™ 03-MM and BlueCore™ 05-MM based systems. STEPvoice provides crystal-clear and reliable voice input for people and machines; namely, for speech communication and for voice recognition applications.

In addition, STEPsound™, STEP speaker’s sound delivery feature improves the speech intelligibility while dynamically adjusting the speaker loudness to accommodate the ambient noise level. The combination of STEPvoice and STEPsound enables a truly hands-free operation and “always” audible performance.
